Blackboard
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for Blackboard administrators to integrate Blackboard with GradeChum. Follow the steps carefully to ensure a successful setup.
- Register your Domain with GradeChum
- Objective: Enable your Blackboard domain to connect with GradeChumβs API.
- Steps:
1. Email your Blackboard website URL to
cymmer@gradechum.com. 2. Wait for confirmation fromcymmer@gradechum.com. You will receive an application ID once your domain is registered with GradeChumβs Blackboard application.
- Create a GradeChum User in Blackboard
- Objective: Set up a dedicated user in Blackboard that GradeChum will use for integration.
- Steps:
1. Log in to Blackboard and navigate to System Admin > Users.
2. Click on Create User.
3. Fill in the following fields:
- First Name: Grade
- Last Name: Chum
- Username: grade-chum
- New Password: Generate a secure random password (save this password for later use).
- Verify New Password: Re-enter the generated password.
- Institution Roles: Set Faculty as the Primary Institution Role.
- System Roles: Assign the Course Administrator role.
- Add GradeChum to REST API Integrations
- Objective: Grant GradeChum access to Blackboardβs REST API.
- Steps:
1. Log in to Blackboard as an administrator.
2. Navigate to System Admin > Integrations > REST API Integrations.
3. Click on Create Integration.
4. Enter the application ID you received from
cymmer@gradechum.com. 5. Set the Learn User tograde-chum(the user created in Step 2). 6. Set End User Access to Yes. 7. Set Authorized To Act as User to No.
- Verify Integration with GradeChum
- Objective: Confirm that the integration with Blackboard is successful.
- Steps:
- Email
cymmer@gradechum.comto notify them that youβve completed the integration steps. Include the password for thegrade-chumuser. - Await confirmation from GradeChum.
- Once you receive confirmation that everything is set up correctly, the integration process is complete.
